What is Psychic Development?

What is Psyche?
Your psyche is your mind and your deepest feelings and attitudes -the totality of all psychological process, both conscious and unconscious. It is initially a feeling although it can develop for some psychics into a vision.

The word “psyche” claims to have its origin from Greek mythology. Cupid, (the son of love goddess Venus) fell in love with a beautiful princess named Psyche. Venus, being jealous of Psyche, imposed many hardships upon her to keep her from Cupid. Psyche overcame these obstacles and was finally united with Cupid and made immortal.

How do you know if you are Psychic?
Being Psychic is the ability to tune into the self, energy and vibrations surrounding you and express the flow of what is received.

You can be psychic in different ways. For example, intuitive people have a great understanding of what is going on with others but may have little sensitivity to atmosphere. They may be able to read a person’s aura or sense their true emotional needs with unerring accuracy.

Shamanic abilities derive a special energy from communication with nature spirits and are gifted healers and have a highly tuned sense of danger from their instinctive link to wild animals. This is a great asset and their intuition can literally save lives. They tend not to be drawn to psychic tools like the Tarot, Oracle Cards, and Runes etc.

Mediums have the ability to link with spirits. They are able to communicate (in many different ways) with souls that have passed over from the Earth Plane. They can often look into other dimensions such as the astral worlds and feel/work with the presence of helpers, guides, angels or earthly spirits.

Channellers access information or energy from a higher level of consciousness. There is no sense of contact with an individual entity – rather a connection to higher spiritual forces. Often regarded by others as “an old soul” they are sought out for wisdom for the insight they have gained over many lifetimes. They can also work as batteries giving energy to those around.

Clairvoyants “see clearly” and usually uses the aid of their spirit guides/helpers to give information and predictions about future events. Clairvoyance is defined as “the power of discerning objects not present to the senses––seeing persons, places and things by purely psychic means.”

Strictly speaking Clairvoyance is the paranormal ability obtain information about an object or an event without the use of the know senses. However, the term in general usage is used as an umbrella term to refer to many psychic gifts such as telepathy, mediumship, second sight, prophetic visions and psychic dreams. Clairvoyance literally means 'clear seeing' so is often used to refer to visionary psychic experiences. For example a medium will describe the pictures he sees given to him by a spirit as clairvoyance. The words he may 'hear' from spirit -such as names - come from clairaudience (clear hearing) and the sensations -such as bodily ailments at the time of the spirits death - are described as clairsentience (clear sensing).

Within these perimeters, individuals can develop new skills and progress into new areas of Psychic Development. Some of you may already have that natural “born” ability that has been nurtured from birth, whilst others have had it drummed out of them and may never be “in tune” with their own psyche or what is occurring around them.

Psychic Awareness is a natural born ability within every human that diminishes without development and practice. Upbringing can also have a great affect as to whether you are able to express yourself or whether you have to suppress the inner feelings. A belief and an understanding of intuition, gut feelings, following instinct and being able to feel comfortable with whom you are, is essential. This is initially given by your peers, and then as you advance with age and wisdom, like will attract like and true companions will encourage, respect and trust your ability.

Psychic Intuition is present from the first seconds of life – but the conditioning of life lessons, conformity and “fitting in” to society, it is often knocked out of us by well meaning peers, parents, teachers etc. Imaginary friends with whom the young interact are just fantasy and pretend and not encouraged. Have you ever seen a baby or child look through you, into you with that knowing?

Psychically Tuned is that feeling that you know what somebody is going to say before they say it. Those “gut” feelings about something or somebody. Walking into a place for the first time and being able to sense the atmosphere. It is the feeling that you are able to hear people’s thoughts and have a sensitivity and awareness of other people’s feelings. It is therefore being attuned to what is happening around you and using your intuition to guide you wisely.

Just as humans have different energies so do different geographical locations and physical features have different energies too. Even objects vibrate and transmit a certain amount of energy.

Earth Energy (Mother Nature) or also known as Grounding energy is where we draw up from the ground, which is where all the energies of our planet are stored. This energy is invaluable to help us balance – especially if we have been working with light vibrational energies and doing healing. You can literally feel disconnected from the planet after a period of time.

Cosmic Energy is what we use for spiritual healing. Unlike grounding energy which is Earth related, cosmic energy deals with a very different realm. It comes from the infinite universe and it is plentiful in supply, pure, undiluted “perfect” energy. Cosmic energy is drawn from above and means very different things to different people. It crosses all religious barriers and all you need is a belief in and a respect for a higher source of perfect energy, love and power which emanates from the universe above.

Every human being is a ball of energy. The energy is not just the physical kind we use to get through each day; we are also giving out and receiving different types of energy all the time. Some energy has good vibrations and some are negative vibrations and can leave people feeling “emotionally drained”. I call the suckers “human vampires” who drain energy! All thoughts are a form of energy stimulating the vibrational patterns, thus creating manifestation.

The Human Energy Field, sometimes called the Aura, is a complex combination of overlapping energy patterns which define the unique spiritual, mental, emotional and physical makeup of an individual. A person's Human Energy is that part of the Universal Energy associated with that specific individual. There are three basic ways of describing human energy in terms of energy meridians, charkas and energy bodies.

Energy Meridians are the internal energy pathways throughout the physical body which energetically connect a person’s organs and their many subsystems like circulation, nervous and digestion.

The five-layer Energy Body system is the third way of describing the Human Energy Field.

The Physical Body is the densest form of energy that our consciousness uses to explore its environment and interact with others. By the densest form, it is meant that the vibration patterns of the physical body are of a frequency low enough to be seen by our eyes, heard by our ears, and experienced with the senses of touch, taste and smell which are within the "frequency capability" of our physical body.

The Etheric Body is the first energy body in frequency above the physical body. It exists within the physical body, and extends outward about an inch outside the skin of the physical body. Its purpose is to form an energy template for the development, maintenance and repair of the physical body. The etheric body contains a vibrational energy counterpart for each organ, blood vessel and bone found in the physical body.

Chakras are energy centres or openings through which we receive energy in to our body. The chakra system within the human body consists of seven major chakras, twenty one minor chakras and a host of other smaller ones.

We have a massive number of energy or electrical currents that run through our body. A major chakra is defined as a point where there are 21 rays of light or energy crossing each other. The minor chakras are positioned at locations where 14 energy lines cross. Other chakras are created where 7 energies cross and there are even some smaller vortexes after that.

To those who can see energy fields, a major chakra resembles a spinning wheel when looking directly into the chakra. However, viewed from the side, it looks more like an energy vortex somewhat resembling the shape of a tornado! The purpose or function of the human chakra system is to take in higher-dimensional energy from the Universal Energy Field all around us and translate or step down its frequency of vibration to that which can be used within the physical body. Each major chakra vibrates or spins at a different rate, and each chakra will absorb energy from the universal energy field that is harmonically related to its own frequency. Thus, energy from several frequency bands is absorbed by the different chakras and is directed by the internal energy meridians to those organs with which that chakra is associated.

The Minds Eye
Psychic Development focuses on the sixth chakra which is located at the brow, in the middle of the forehead and is often referred to as "the third eye". The colour purple is associated with it. It is believed that this is our ability to “see” things which normal human vision can not, to see life in a much larger context than just our earthly existence. This type of seeing involves our ability to understand the concept and then move forward with this understanding into new territory. If your spiritual concepts are fully formulated and you can “see” universal truth and understand where you fit into that plan and then carry out that work accordingly – your brow chakra is functioning well. The brow chakra has physical associations with the lower brain, left eye, ears, nose, nervous system and pituitary (gland secreting hormones which influence body growth and other endocrine activities).
